Enrichment Registrations Due Today!!!
We hope that you found our Winter Enrichment Course offerings to be plentiful and full of creative options. If you have decided to enroll your child in one, or more, of the courses your registration is due TODAY, Monday, January 5th. Please be sure to return your registration packet to either campus office. If you did not receive a catalog or have further questions please contact Ellen.
Rental Space Needed ASAP
LE4’s lead teacher, Claire, is going on maternity leave soon and we have a wonderful new team member who will be Claire’s maternity substitute. She will be arriving from Laos this weekend, but does not have a place to stay. Does anyone in the community have a lead on a rental close to the Prescott Campus? She may not be able to get her car from California for a few weeks. Anyone with information on a rental should contact Karie.
PTA Meeting, Coffee, and Arts Tax Update
Arts Tax Funds
Your PTA has been hard at work. We’ve had excellent fundraisers this year, made great progress on the outdoor spaces of both campuses, enjoyed family socials, morning coffees, and alongside many parents, we have recently begun advocating for The Ivy School to receive the Arts Tax Funds so desperately needed. Beth Slovic, A Willamette Week reporter, wrote this story about the Arts Tax Funding. The PTA is currently working on drafting a letter for parents and students to sign. Stay tuned to have your voice heard!
PTA Meeting This Wednesday
If you want to learn more about what’s happening around our campuses and find ways to become involved, please join us this Wednesday, January 7th, from 6:30-7:30pm at the Prescott Campus. If you’d like to have voting rights at the meetings, it’s not too late to become a member. Membership is just $12 (scholarships available). Member or not, we’d love to have you! All are welcome. Childcare is available at a suggested donation of $3/child.
PTA Coffee Recap
Can’t make the Wednesday evening meeting but want to feel connected? We’ve got you covered. Please join a PTA representative and other Ivy parents for a morning coffee on Thursday, January 8th, at Motivasi across from the Prescott Campus right after drop-off. We hope to see you there!
Morris Greenhouse Build Set for January 10th
The greenhouse parts are in!!! Over the holiday break, the greenhouse company managed to get us the parts we need to finish our greenhouse build! Saturday, January 10th, from 10am to 3pm come join us for the final stages of completing the construction.
It will be loads of fun and a great opportunity to meet other parents. Come schmooze even if you don’t plan on being a part of the building team. It would be great to have a big gathering of parents and kids, building and playing alongside one another. We will have lawn games for the kids (does anyone have bean bag toss boards or other outdoor games?), there’s a great playground at Dawson park for the kids, we will have tea and coffee and a potluck lunch!
If you have questions about this great community event, please contact Matthew.
On Wednesday, January 21st, the Oregon Department of Education State Board will pay a visit to the Ivy School. This annual visit allows the State Board of Education a chance to see Ivy at work and hear our story. We are looking for parents interested in joining an hour-long morning focus group to discuss their experience at Ivy with the site visit team. New and established families from both campuses are encouraged to participate. Contact Anne if you are interested.
The PTA is excited to invite you to an Ivy School Ice Skating Party at the Lloyd Center Ice Rink starting at6:00pm on Friday, January 16th. Ivy families and friends are welcome!
We’re seeking volunteers who can help staff the information tables and help sign up new volunteers for various projects and school activities. Email Erica if you’re available to help during all or part of the event, starting at 5:30pm at the Lloyd ice rink. Thank you!
We recommend that skaters wear long socks to protect their legs from being rubbed by the skating boots, as well as comfortable clothing and a lightweight jacket or sweater. Gloves are optional. Wear green and white or your Ivy T-shirts to show your Ivy pride. We hope to see each of you there!
Ivy families, we know you have been working really hard participating in the PTA fundraisers so far this year and we are SO thankful! We have been able to put significant amounts of money towards technology, individual classrooms, our music program, and finally enough funds have been raised for a play structure at our Prescott campus!
None of this would have been possible without all of the hard work of our planners and volunteers! We have potential to earn even more money for our school during the 2014-2015 school year and would like YOUto be a part of it.
Our final fundraiser will begin in February and will be a raffle. Thank you so much to all parents who have already volunteered to help! We still need help with procuring prizes, managing the tickets, and carrying out the raffle. Just let us know your availability and we will work something out with you. Please contact Leah Maurer if you would like to help. Thank you again!
We need at least 15 adults (anyone 13+ years) to sign up, so invite friends, family, and neighbors to run along. Team members can choose any event from the line up: 5k, 8k, 15k, or Half Marathon. Kids are welcome to run, too! Race day is Sunday, March 15, 2015.
Register by January 15th to pay the discounted fee. If you miss the discount deadline you can still register until January 31st at the full price. The race packets will be shipped to the Prescott Campus mid-February.
Feel a little nervous about running a race? We believe you can do it! Check out this link for a Couch to 5k training plan. Or post on our google group (see sidebar for details on how to join) your race goals and maybe find other parents/families to train with.
What a great way to kick-off the New Year! We hope to see many of you out there!
