Read-a-thon Celebration on Friday!

The Ivy School’s second annual Read-a-Thon is looking to be another great success!  Our students were fantastic readers and were supported by generous sponsors.  Congratulations to all the students who were the lucky raffle winners and a giant thank you to all the students who turned in raffle tickets and celebrated with their peers who were prize winners.

Please continue to turn in your pledge money and forms.  The deadline to turn everything in was last Friday but due to the holiday and the snow day, we realize that deadline was challenging.  Read-a-thon checks and forms can be turned in to your child’s teacher or either campus office.  We are looking forward to reporting the total minutes read by each class and the total pledge contributions as soon as everything is in and counted!

Another reminder that the ice cream party is this Friday, November 21st.  The Prescott party will begin at 10am and the Morris party will begin at 10:30am.  We have noted food allergies and will have options for those students as well.  Remember that your child may come dressed as their favorite book character or author on Friday.

Currently there is one volunteer for the ice cream party, which means we need more help!  In order for the ice cream party to be a success for the children and congratulate them on all their hard work, we need parents to help serve the ice cream at both campuses.  This is a super fun volunteer event!

Please contact JacQueline if you have any questions regarding your pledges or if you are able to volunteer. Thank you for supporting The Ivy School.

Compass Green Project Reschedules Visit to Ivy School

Last week’s Compass Green Project visit has been rescheduled for this Wednesday the 19th. We are excited to welcome Justin Cutter and his mobile greenhouse to The Ivy School! Students at both campuses will have a chance to tour through the greenhouse and learn about gardening and sustainable farming. This means that there is still time to donate your smartphones for recycling! Please drop them in the boxes at the Morris and Prescott campuses. We will give the phones to Compass Green Project on Wednesday.

To learn more about Compass Green Project, families can view their video or visit their website!

Prescott Computer Lab Improvements

The Prescott Computer Lab improvements are beginning!  A HUGE thank you to Ivy’s PTA VP, Leah Maurer, for securing a donation of a dozen computers and to Nick, our IT professional, for moving them and getting them all ready and set for student use.  We now need the help of a few parents this week to help us clear the space by cataloging and organizing books that have been stored in the room over the summer.  Any parent or group of parents could bring their coffees and clean out donated books.  The instructions and materials are ready for folks to dive in.  Ellen and Anne will be available for questions. We will also need help transporting books that are not useable to a donation facility. Please email Ellen if you are available to help.

December Lunch Orders Due Friday

December lunch menus will be sent home with your child early this week and will be due this Friday, November 21st.  Alternative lunch menus are available upon request.  Please contact Ellen or Jillian with any lunch questions.

Morris Needs Firewood Donations

As the weather becomes colder and the UE students are working outside in the garden it would be nice to keep warm with a small fire.  We have a small outdoor fireplace at Morris but need some firewood! If you have any to donate please be in touch with Matt or Muriah to coordinate a time to drop it off.  If the wood is already cut up and dry enough to use this season that would be best.  Thank you!
