Chinook Book Deadline Extended

oct1aDue to the Morris camping trip to Wi-Ne-Ma the Chinook Book deadline has been extended to October 9th.  This gives you time to sell even more books!  If you feel that you have sold all the books you can please go ahead and hand in your order forms now.  This allows us to fill the sold orders in a timely manner.

We’d like to extend a giant thank you to Liz at Amenity Shoes for selling Ivy Chinook Books at her store.  Drop in and show her our appreciation.  We’d also like to thank those of you who have already brought in your order forms and to those who have made use of the self service tables!!!  The self service tables will remain up until October 9th.

Please contact JacQueline if you need extra time or have any questions.

International Children’s Day

interntlchilddayOur second annual International Children’s Day celebration will be on Tuesday, October 28th.  Last year Ivy students and parents really enjoyed this day of multicultural festivity!  For those families that are new to Ivy and are not familiar with International Children’s Day, this is a celebration of various cultures and geographies.  This event is a sort of “travel around the world” day for Ivy students. Each classroom chooses a continent or region to portray and is in charge of transforming their room into that region.  The students are given passports and travel to each classroom throughout the day. Each class creates a realistic space reflecting the culture or geographical artifacts of their countries, provides in-class art projects or crafts, and music and food samplings related to their regions to make the experience realistic.

If you are crafty, like to cook, have musical instruments to share or can simply help with LOTS of preparation and room transformation please contact your class Room Parent.  This celebration is dependent upon volunteers so the more the merrier!

If you are uncertain who your Room Parent is please contact the PTA Room Parent Coordinator, Colleen Hein.

Earlycare & Aftercare

In our assessment of Earlycare attendance, we’ve determined that there is insufficient use of these services to allow for them to continue.  Unfortunately, Earlycare will be discontinued as of Friday, October 3, 2014. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We understand this does create a difficult situation for some families, but hope the reason for this decision is clear.  If you have questions regarding the Earlycare issue please email Anne or Amy.

Aftercare services will not be affected by this change.   Any aftercare questions can be answered by Chris.

Programs that Give Back
