It’s not too late to enroll in Spring Break Camp! If you are looking for child care this week there are open spots in Spring Break Camp.  Send us an email and let us know the days you are interested in attending.  Let us know if you need a scholarship, we are happy to help.

Plant Sale Extended!

Morris students have put a lot of love and creativity into this student-run fundraiser for the Outdoor Classroom! Please pick up an order form from the Prescott or Morris lobby and turn it back in with your desired veggies or flowers and we will grow the starts for you! Order forms are due before March 20th. Plants will be ready for pick up between May 15th-17th.  Students will be seeding these orders as they come in so don’t delay!

Charter Renewal Presentation

Join The Ivy School Board of Directors and The Ivy Leadership Team on Wednesday, April 8th at 6:30 pm in the community room at the Morris Campus for a viewing of the renewal presentation video and discussion of the renewal process, and what it means for Ivy’s future. Renewal team members Any Stuhr, Anne O’Neal, Kevin Pearson, Rebecca Keith and Karilyn Wax will be on hand to walk us through the presentation and renewal process and to answer questions. Childcare will be provided.  We look forward to sharing our presentation and celebrating the incredible story that is The Ivy School!

Standardized Testing

Remember, Ivy students will begin their testing window after Spring Break.  Students in 3rd through 8th grades will take tests in Math and English Language.  Students in 5th through 8th grade will also take a test in Science. You can view sample questions at this link and/or take a practice test at this link. If you are interested in opting your student out of the test, please schedule an appointment to speak with Anne O’Neal.

The Vines

The Ivy School is looking for parents to join a SUPERBAND for the Ivy School Talent Show! WANTED: Bases, drums and auxiliary percussion, guitar(s) vocals, back-ups, keyboards, and maybe even dancers.  The repertoire is TBD but the Talent Show Committee thought it would be cool if the students picked the song we are to cover.  Perhaps the adults prepare an encore of their choosing.  If interested send an email stating what you do to theTalent Show Committee, and include the subject: SUPERBAND.

PTA Nominations Start Now!

The PTA has formed a nominations committee for the 2015-2016 school year. This committee is in charge of putting together a list of names of parents who would like to become more involved in supporting the Ivy community through PTA. Our PTA committee chairs and officers have really enjoyed connecting and helping the Ivy community, and we would love to see more of this!  If you are interested in hearing more about the positions or if you have any parents in mind that you believe would help further our flourishing Ivy community by becoming more involved with the PTA, our committee would sincerely appreciate your input!  Please email Leah Maurer with any input or suggestions you may have.

Spring Cleaning at Prescott

The Prescott Campus Lost and Found is overflowing with cozy jackets, books, shoes, and water botttles! Items lost during recess and aftercare are in the bin in the lobby.  Please check for any items you have been missing. Any items remaining after April 10th will be donated to charity.

Talent Show

The Ivy School’s Annual Talent Show is coming! This year the Talent Show is on Friday May 8th, at the Morris campus from 5-7pm.  If your child is interested in participating, please send an email and a short video of your child’s act to the talent show committee, talentshow@theivyschool.com, and include the following in the body of the email: Performer’s first and last name, classroom, talent/act, technical needs (piano, iPod jack, stool, etc.), and length of act.

Following the receipt of your child’s registration you will receive a confirmation email and a form to be returned to John. We would like to have all of these entries no later than Friday April 3, 2015. After that registration for new acts will be closed. We still need a few volunteers to help coordinate rehearsal and help out during the night of the show. If you are able to volunteer please email us. We can’t wait to be dazzled by Ivy’s talented students!

Toys at School

Just a reminder, toys and special items like jewelry should be kept at home. Often these items are a distraction during work time, cause arguments during recess, and go missing. If your child wants to bring a toy to play with during Aftercare, please check with Chris or Harmony before sending items to school.  Also please remember that The Ivy School and Aftercare staff are not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items.

Earth Day 42nd Avenue Cleanup-April 18

The Ivy PTA is partnering with SOLV to sponsor a super Ivy Earth Day event that will help beautify our Prescott campus neighborhood as well as connect with area businesses! Parents and students from both campuses will meet at Prescott in the morning and head out for a trash pickup on 42nd Avenue.  We will then head to Wilshire Park for a fun BYO picnic lunch, with a treat supplied by the PTA. Put it on your calendar and join us for the fun!

Baby Luca is Here!

Miss Andrea has let us know that baby Luca has arrived! Luca Matthias Anderson, was born on 3/15/15 at 1:39pm.  8lbs. 4 oz. and 21 inches long.  Mother and baby are doing well and adjusting well to their new life at home.  We are so happy to have another addition to the Ivy Family!
