The board has been busy interviewing candidates for the executive director position. As part of the process of selecting our Executive Director, we would like the final candidates to interview with parents, students and teachers. These interviews will take place during school hours. The exact date is yet to be determined. If you are interested in participating on the parent interview panel, please email Amie, our Board Secretary, at amie@theivyschool.com. Amie will be in touch with parents interested in participating and provide them with all the details including the interview date.

Middle School Update!

As we stated in our last all school email, the Ivy Board voted to remodel the Prescott campus so that it would be possible to accommodate the middle school students there next year. We want to address some of the questions that have arisen because of this decision.

  • Summer Camps: Because the construction that will happen at Prescott will happen over the summer, all our summer camps, with the possible exception of Montessori boot camp, will be held at the Morris campus. Because our boot camp students are primarily new first graders, the Prescott furniture and materials are much more appropriate for them. We hope we can find a way to make that happen. Those who are enrolled in the boot camp will receive further notification when we are certain about where it will be held.
  • Bathrooms:  All construction will be done with benefit of a permit and according to code, so if additional bathrooms, toilets, sinks, or any other fixtures are required, they will be included ln the remodeling.
  • Construction: Laurie, our architect, is moving forward with what is necessary to get permits and begin construction as soon as school is out.
We know that there are bound to be further questions, which we will do our best to address.  Please contact admin@theivyschool.com with all queries. When there is more information about our leadership configuration for next year, we will let you know.

5th Grade Trip to Hood River

5th graders visit Hood River Middle School to tour their wonderful outdoor program and then enjoyed a nice hike at Waclella Falls!

Here the students are asking questions about their program.  The building behind them is one of the only “NET ZERO Energy Buildings”  – thanks to Michael Becker and the Hood River Middle School Program AND all the Ivy Parents who drove and chaperoned the trip!

“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.
